Overview
A conceptual re-brand of Allsvenskan’s visual identity. The project explores how Sweden’s top-tier football league could transition from a traditional sports aesthetic toward a modern, digital-first identity that aligns with the visual standards of the major European leagues.
Context & Research
I analyzed Allsvenskan’s current branding against global industry leaders. While the league’s heritage is strong, the visual language felt static. My research showed a clear move toward high-contrast color palettes and simplified logos – acting more as versatile "stamps" than complex illustrations. Traditional league identities often struggle with scalability in mobile environments and lack the dynamic energy required for modern motion design. My goal was to modernize the brand, helping it stand out while meeting today’s industry standards.competeing withe the industry standrad.
Concept
The aim was to combine minimalism with a vibrant, high-energy feel. By utilizing a clean, 2D vector style, the identity remains recognizable at any scale, while strategically applied gradients allow for flexibility across UI components. It balances professional authority with the vibrant, fan-centric energy essential to the sport. While this is a radical rebranding, I believed the obvious choice was to retain the "A" as the main icon and continue using a condensed typeface. The league needed a refreshment that stripped away unnecessary clutter, making the brand both more functional and scalable.
Design Decisions
The Symbol: The core icon uses negative space to illustrate a ball in motion, which simultaneously forms the letter 'A'. This creates an immediate, iconic link to the sport and the brand name.
Color Strategy: I retained the traditional blue and yellow but inverted their roles. Making the vibrant yellow the primary foundation creates a more high-impact, modern presence. To enhance the digital experience, I developed a dynamic system where the palette adapts to the match environment: The yellow-dominant "Day Mode" for sunlight and the blue-dominant "Dark Mode" for evening games. This is still in concept phase and not shown in the project as of now.
Result & Reflection This project was an exercise in creating a system designed for motion, digital and real-time data. The result is an identity that feels contemporary and adaptable, proving that you can evolve a league's visual heritage without losing its original character.
